    Winter09@SYDNEY

This is the major update i mentioned, and this will be a super-long post, however i tried to reduce words and let the pictures talk!

Decided at last minute, not to follow the senior's trip, instead, I decided to have a trip to Sydney with Perng, ended up booking expensive flight back to Adelaide, and rolling to Sydney on 10th, a journey which takes 26 hours!

    DAY 1

it's 11th morning, stop n rest at Falling Rocks, NSW before arriving Sydney. it's chill and fog everywhere!

arrived Sydney and the guys are waiting for us at Sydney Opera House @ Circular Quay...
and of course the architecture masterpiece in Sydney is the focus of the study of architecture in NSW...
    can see from their assignments...

and coincidentally, we bump with the other gang of Australia bound JPA KBU 2008 ppl...

after spending some time at the opera house, we proceed to the government house...

and fooling around on the lawn...

    group photo with the guys...

the elegant buildings which define the skyline of Sydney CBD...
then we had a walk around the Circular Quay...

me with Sydney Opera House and Habour Bridge at my back.

this photo is taken using the sunset mode of Jason's camera...

and the lovely cityscape of Sydney

after that we walked around the Royal Botanic Garden...

from there we went to the NSW State Library...

then to the St. Mary's Cathedral...a typical Gothic church in the city...

at the moment i stepped into the church, i felt so holy XD

but there's a question arises between 5 archi students among us: the inside is so dark without artificial lighting!  the rosewindow, the painted glass and clerestory cant provide sufficient inflow of light! how do the ppl get light into the church at that time this church was built?

after spending some time in the church, it's time to go home...

a row of white woods at the Hyde Park.

we stayed at Zhen Xun's + Jin Chen's + Woon Yee's + Tze Hao's home for the course of the week...
and of course we had this...

having beers after dinner watching Harry Potter in the tv!

    DAY 2

We wake up in the morning before the sun comes out, and headed to the Central, and we went to the Blue Mountain.

the town of Katoomba, it's really chill here and luckily i wear a thicker jacket here!
we hop onto this bus, which will bring us to the places we're going to...

    view from the upper deck...

a view of the Blue Mountain from the skyway cable car...
this place is called Blue Mountain because the trees here emit something into the air, which is blue in colour, and the whole area looks blue. like so lame...

a group photo with the statue of three sisters.

from here we walked around and took the "STEEPEST FALLING RAILWAY IN THE WORLD"

it's really damn steep and falling down freaking fast! but the experience was GREATTTT

took at the end of the rail...behind me there's the three sisters.
after lunch, we headed to the Echo Point, the lookout point of Blue Mountain.

and here we got the best view of the legendary three sisters.

from here we walked the "GREAT STAIRCASE" - 900+ steps down by the cliff, then walked all the way up again...

wow, the feeling of Mt Kinabalu is back @@ leg so pain!!
and that ends the day 2 of my trip!

    DAY 3

On day 3, we woke up so late...because it was too tiring the day before...
and we went to Darling Harbour, a great place i love very much!

some chinese building in the city

and that ends the day 3 of my Sydney Trip

    DAY 4

In the morning, we met up with the girls and visited their uni, the University of Sydney.

a very detail clay-like model of Parthenon on display in the museum of UniSyd

Main entrance of UniSyd...damn far to walk!!
after visiting the uni, we had our lunch and then walked to Central to board the FREE bus...

    but the bus never come!!!
and we end up took a paid ride to Circular Quay, and took ferry to Milson's Point

our activity here was to take photo!!

after we get back to Circular Quay, we went visit the Sydney Opera House by night...

some palm trees at Circular Quay

    Sydney Opera House by night

    Syok sendiri =.=

    DAY 5

after the continuous outing for quite a few days, we decided to take some rest.
the kids from Melbourne left by noon whilst I will stay until saturday...
and the only place to go is UNSW, because ZX n JC gonna take back their assignments - model of Sydney Opera House...

    the UNSW library...

now i know why they so love their library =.=

    UNSW main entrance by night

    DAY 6

wake up and went to Sydney Fish Market

first time im addicted to fresh oysters!

    these birds are so funny!
like performing a show to us hahahah

    next stop: Starcity Casino!

however, we need passports to get into the casino!
thanks to lee jin chen who are sooo keen to go inside volunteered to get our passports from home,...
    so we waited there...

    eating ice cream...
new zealand's natural ice cream is way better than baskin robin's, and cheaper!
3 scoop for $5.80, while baskin robins $6.90 for 1 scoop only

    DAY 7

wake up in the morning, and went to Circular Quay (again) to take ferry to Taronga Zoo.

    seal!

shell-less snail in snail mail box

    PLATYPUS!

    kangaroo

    koala

view of the city from hills on Taronga Zoo.

and we learn alot by visiting the zoo, such as...

    how tortoise mating...or

    ...how chimpanzee mating...or

    ...how zebra's penis looked like.

    a red panda

and that marks the end of my winter trip at Sydney.

One word to describe my feeling now is "E.N.V.Y"
You have the chance to travel overseas and your world is bigger than mine right now~
However I am trying my best to travel at least one destination each year~
Either is in Malaysia or overseas~
Why you didn't get thinner? Is it too relax there??
And may I know how much you paid for whole trip (including accommodation, meals, transport and tours)
